Tips To Make Your House Feel Like Home

Moving furniture into your new place is only part of what makes up your home Now that you’ve bought or rented the big stuff (sofa, dining set, bed), it’s time to add the stuff that mark your space as yours. Not sure where to start? We asked our team of interior designers and home stagers for simple decorating tips to make your house a home.
Display picture frames with family photos around your home
What better way to add a personal and homey feel to your place than surrounding yourself with pictures of your loved ones? If you don’t want to spend the money on tons of frames, think about hanging photos with binder clips or using colorful washi tape to create fun frames for an inexpensive and stylish alternative. These are especially easy apartment decor ideas that won’t damage rental walls.
Create centerpieces for your tables
Centerpieces are often reserved for special occasion, like a wedding or a fancy dinner, but in reality a centerpiece is an easy way to make a room pop with style without a ton of effort. You can use simple items for centerpieces, such as your favorite candles, fresh flowers, or even books and magazines to bring a focal point to a room. Don’t limit yourself to styling one room–add a centerpiece to your coffee table, dining room table, and even your bedside table!
Add throw blankets and pillows to your sofa, accent chair and bed
Let’s get cozy! Not only will plush pillows and soft blankets make you want to get cozy on the couch, these pieces will also add color and texture to your space, especially if your furniture is made up of a neutral palate.
Incorporate whimsical accessories that reflect your unique personality
Do you love comics? What about the ocean? Maybe music is your jam (pun intended). Find things that speak to you and spread them throughout your house. Check out thrift stores or hit up garage sales in your area–both are great places to pick up fun and unique decor items. Bookends make great accent pieces without being too dominating. Or try cutting up images from magazines and old calendars to create a gallery wall.

My brother and his wife have been making some style changes around their home, and asked me for some advice.
